2022 Field Recordings Red Blend All the Rage Santa Barbara County
From the Seller
93 POINTS! For UNDER $13?! What have we here...? My newest house red — that’s what!!! How far out is this? SO FAR OUT!!! That’S the name, and most definitely the vibe we got for you on this fine Thursday! We blew it out yesterday with a bold, powerful, and utterly hedonistic Napa Cab — and so today, we’re playing the role of KitchenAid…and MIXING IT UP! Ooof…bad pun…deserves a paddling, fo’ sho. But I popped this little baddie not more than 30 seconds ago, and I…am…deliriously GIDDY! Seriously trembling with pure, unbridled pleasure — ‘cause that is what this seductive ambrosia is all about!!! It SOARS out the glass with bubbly, wild notes of elderberries and blackberries, then slightly carbonic black cherries, and this homemade strawberry jam character. But don’t forget the wild herbs! Sage, and sassafras, with tingly pink peppercorns, and rhubarb, and tomato leaf…just, DANG!!! It straight up dances across your tongue, with this almost pop-rocks-esque frenetic tension, and clean, pure berry goodness that feels like you walked out of the wilderness after five days without food, only to stumble into a berry patch right at its glorious, end-of-summer peak of ripeness. Somehow — despite all that — this is neither sweet nor tart…just the perfect balance of both. And…93 POINTS!!! For a decidedly hip, totally counter-culture wine like this…that just shows how exceptional this little beauty is! Cool blend of 65% Cabernet Sauvignon, 23% Merlot, 6% Syrah, and 6% Marselan, too. I’d call it a unifying style between two warring factions. If you like them au naturel and funky — you’re gonna love this. If you like them traditional, fruit-forward, and polished…SURPRISE! You are REALLY gonna love this! It just WORKS! Medium-bodied, with a silky texture punctuated by little pops of tannin — serve this on a warm day (they’re coming back soon, right?) with a slight chill and watch the absolute MAGIC that ensues. For just TWELVE DOLLARS?!?! Insanity. Go BIG is all I have to say. Not nearly as much as we’d like, so grab yours whilst the getting’s good!
